Hi, I'm just looking for advice on which schools I may actually have a shot at. My academic stats are posted above (cGPA 3.49, sGPA 3.33, 514 MCAT).

Extracurriculars:
- ~90 hrs of shadowing
- ~100 hrs volunteering at a hospital
- ~45 hrs being a peer mentor
- ~50 hrs of TAing
- ~10 hrs of paid teaching
- artistic publications/performances
- ~150 hrs community service (church work)

I've also done coursework in Spanish and am bilingual

So far, some DO schools I've had on my list are:
- Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
-Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
-Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences
-Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences
-Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine
- University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine

Some MD schools I'm considering are:
-New York Medical College
-Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University
-Albany Medical College
-Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine
-University of Arizona College of Medicine
-Seton Hall - Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine
-Drexel University College of Medicine
-Eastern Virginia Medical School
-University of Vermont College of Medicine
-Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science

Thanks in advance! All help is greatly appreciated

I had very similar stats and got into a few DO schools including one or two on your list. Didn’t get into MD though; that sGPA will make it tough but with an upward trend I’d say you have a chance for MD. I’d bet you get a DO acceptance this cycle.

My freshman and sophomore years, my sGPA was roughly a 3.2, in junior year it went up to a 3.3 and by senior year it was a 3.57. I'm not too sure if it counts as a significant upward trend though.

Which DO schools did you get acceptances for, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks for the insight!!

You are competitive for all DO schools and low-tier MD. Add DMU to your DO list.

Agree with above post - in addition, remove MSUCOM if not from MI, unless your down w that 80K tuition (also very instate bias)

I was accepted to pcom, kcu, and azcom. Stats aren’t everything, but all things considered id be very surprised if you do not get into a solid DO program this cycle.

OPs stats are better than mine and I had 15 IIs between DO and MD.

You should snag DO acceptances. As long as you don’t interview horribly. MD may be a shot, but definitely apply.

And my stats were higher than OP’s, thus my saying that stats aren’t anything, and that OP should be good for a DO program and has an outside shot at MD.

Yes I get they aren't everything, but assuming you have the requisite ECs and other stuff, they are in a good spot
