Howdy everyone!

Stats:
AACOMAS GPAs
3.28cGPA
3.11sGPA
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Last 38 credits are at a 4.0. 32 are considered science credits, ONLY 8 are a post bacc I did to bump my sGPA over 3.0. I have 2 W’s in last two semesters one in each. 1 was a miscommunication with advisor on classes I needed to graduate. 1 was not trying to overload myself balancing multiple responsibilities.

Long story short I want a reputable DO school and am trying to get brutally honest feedback on if I will be competitive at all or not. Sorry if I missed any relevant info.

P.S. Is there any reasonable estimate on number of DO schools I should apply to for high odds without going overboard? Thanks!

Hey, so you will not be competitive. However that doesnt mean you wont get in. I had the same MCAT score with different distribution and a 2.7 GPA with last 60 (I think, its been a while) credit hours at a 3.89. I had a story of overcoming odds and had great letters from DO physicians (I think I had 3-4 letters from people I worked with as a scribe).

You did a great job really showing an upward trend. Now with that being said, the W's may impact your application. I would explain them if there is a section to do so but ideally there should be no additional red flags on your application when applying with a low GPA especially leading up to matriculation.

I would apply to as many DO schools as you can afford (that do not have minimum GPA or that you meet the requirements). I applied to 50 schools and had luck with 3-4 of them about 4 years ago. Good luck. @Goro will be able to add to my comment when they have free time. Good luck!

I appreciate the response! Everyday I get on here and realize how competitive this process is and wish I could just go back and take care of my GPA the right way 😔

I suggest
UIW
TCOM
SAM HOUSTON
OKCOM
ACOM
WCU
KCOM
MUCOM
ALL LECOMS
CUSOM
ARCOM
WVSOM
ALL VCOMS
ALL PCOMS
NYITCOM.AR
Thanks Goro! Sorry to bother you, I know I already posted a thread asking where to apply, just was curious about my actual odds with DO’s realistically

If they have a 506 mcat, that is competitive for DO. A lot more DO schools will overlook a subpar GPA if the MCAT and other components are stronger.
