I am posting this for my friend. Here is his stats below:

TX Resident (looking to apply to TAMU)

GPA: 3.6
sGPA: ~3.7

BS in Biology at a private university

3 years experience (roughly 1600 hours) working part-time during college/full time during summer at a small animal technician at a vet clinic (also 1000 hours volunteering as a small animal technician before being employed, during high school at the same clinic)
1 year experience (2200 hours) working full time as an orthopaedic surgical technician assisting in surgeries ranging from TPLO, MPL, fx repair to various soft tissue surgeries.
100 hours shadowing equine/bovine vet

Research:
Feral cat chagas disease research 6 months (no publications/posters)
Effectiveness of ketoconazole on fungal infection (poster research for class)
Worked in a lab for 6 months looking at ways to synthesize new and similar copper (II) isonicotinamide metal complexes by the reaction of the isonicotinamide with copper (II) bipyridine complexes.

Clubs:
CCA (Costal Conservation Association) - member (8 years)
National Honor Society of Leadership and Success - member (3 years)
STORM (South Texas Off Road Mountain bikers) - 4 years

For LORs, he may want to consider having 1-2 professors write letters as well since I know many schools require at least 1 academic recommendation. However, every school is different and I do not know much about TAMU's requirements. Other than that, he seems like he has a LOT of experience and a decent science GPA so that is sure to be helpful.
