Hello everyone,
I would like some feedback on my school list that I have currently assembled. I'm looking to apply to a maximum of 20-22 schools because I don't have infinite finances 🙂
cGPA: 3.86, sGPA: 3.65 (upward trend)
MCAT: 512 - 130 C/P, 128 CARS, 127 B/B, 127 P/S
US Citizen, Illinois resident
ORM female
Spent first two years at a community college, then transferred to an engineering-focused private mid-tier university
Clinical volunteer experience: 225 hours hospital volunteering in surgical unit/ICU/information desk
Research experience: 1 year (150 hours) of chemistry research at community college, no publications, just a presentation. 2 years (350 hours) of materials science research at 4-yr university with one 4th author pub
15 hours of shadowing in pediatric endocrinology/diabetes clinic.
Non-clinical volunteer experience: 90 hours volunteering at a summer camp for inner city kids, 50 hours at Ronald McDonald House, 200+ hours of church volunteering (music ministry/lots of leadership roles in children's ministry)
Other activities: Fast food employee for 2.5 years (2000 hours) Competitive Irish dancer through my sophomore year of college (qualified for regionals and nationals). Physics SI (150 hours). Computer science TA (30 hours). Member and vice president/treasurer of speech and debate team for 1.5 years, qualified for nationals in speech. D3 cross country and track athlete for 1 year. 200 hours as an assistant director for a camp for young adults with autism.
For my gap year, I will be working as a medical scribe as well as working at a group home for children with special needs.
Awards: Received a prestigious department scholarship for academics and research involvement my senior year. Was named top first-year persuasive speaker at the state speech tournament.
