Hi everyone,

I'm an international student, my first two years I was facing some terrible problems including loss of a family member and a civil war in my country affecting my academics so I have good explanation of my bad gpa ( first two years were 2.6 and 2.1 ) I'm currently a senior planning to apply for 25-26 cycle. Last year I took 27 credits both semesters and managed to get all As planning to do the same thing this year. I'm wondering if I should apply for 25-26 cycle or get a masters and then apply. Currently I'm planning to work as a research or medical assistant in my gap year.

  1. cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS: predicted to be 3.3, 3.4X
  2. MCAT score(s) and breakdown. Include all (non-voided) attempts. ( 526: 132,131,132,131)
  3. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US) International
  4. Ethnicity and/or race Middle eastern
  5. Undergraduate institution or category Public
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer) 1000 medical assistant, 200 volunteer at a clinic, 100 volunteer medical assistant in rural areas back home, probably gonna have more by the time of application
  7. Research experience and productivity very heavy research aprox 2000 by the time of application, one research internship in Harvard medical school this summer (between my junior and senior year) which I have a recom from the pi, three first author presentations in big national and international conferences in neuroscience and cardiology, one first author pub related to neurology in a mid journal, 5 mid author pubs related to oncology.
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented 100 neurology, pediatric surgery, cardiology, primary care
  9. Non-clinical volunteering 800 : advocate for UN, teaching english in refugee camps and few more pretty unique experiences
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc) founder and president of 2 clubs, founding a startup that helps students get research experience, university sport team non NCAA but competed regional, hosting charity events to help refugees, musician
  11. Relevant honors or awards scholarship total of $110000, regional piano competition second place, outstanding senior research award, one first and one second place award in IHSA competitions
  12. Anything else not listed you think might be important I have written some pretty good essays all peer reviewed by multiple people and managed to demonstrate good reasons for my bad academic performance in the first two years and also have some pretty unique stories that explain why I want to become a physician.
  13. for now I know I will have two strong recoms from my research pis and one from my science prof and one from one of my volunteering positions.
I'm looking for schools that care more about MCAT scores and research rather than GPA
Please feel free to suggest any school that you think would be a good fit, this school list isn't finalized and I need your help to make it better.

Georgetown
Harvard

Loma Linda (if you fit your mission)
New York Medical College
Stanford
Stony Brook
TCU
