  • My primary will hopefully be verified in the next few weeks

  • Year in school- Graduated in 2016 with a BA in Public Health. Was at community college for 4 years before transferring.

  • Country/state of residence

    • Grew up and went to school in Northern California

    • Currently living in new york
  • Schools to which you are applying

    • In state public: UC Davis, UC Irvine

    • Private: Tulane, Rush, Rosalind Franklin , Temple

    • Out of state public: Virginia tech, SUNY Downstate, Wayne State

    • DO schools - TBD
  • Cumulative GPA

    • Overall is 3.68. However my GPA dropped 3.75 to 3.45 when I transferred from Community college to big competitive 4yr .
  • Science GPA

    • 3.54 - somewhat a downward trend when I transferred. I think my sGPA at my 4 year is around 3.41
  • MCAT Scores - 514 (127/130/128/129)

  • Research – include any abstracts/posters/publications and how you were credited (eg. First author, senior author, etc)

    • Currently in charge of informational interview study and retrospective chart review for work (so far 200 hours). Poster presentation at APHA this fall.

    • 100 hour chart review for gov agency

    • 250 hours months at National Eye Institute

    • 200 hours Microbiology research in my community lab. We had complete control over the project and I was the first author. It was a poster presentation at 2 undergrad research conferences
  • Volunteering (clinical) – include hours/sites

    • Birth doula - 100 hour logged in one year. County hospital Labor and Delivery unit. 12 hours/month commitment.

    • ICU Volunteer. 100 hours for 3 hr/wk in 2015-2016 and 150 hours for 4 hr/wk in 2010-2011.
  • Physician shadowing – include hours/specialties

    • Various surgical specialties for 150 hours

    • Neonatology for 12 hours

    • Primary Care and OMT for 6 hours

    • Primary care and Hep C/ HIV management for 12 hours
  • Non-clinical volunteering

    • Community emergency response team 50 hours total for 1 year

    • Reading tutor 7 months 160 hours
  • Extracurricular activities

    • High school sport coach 4 seasons for a total of 980 hours

    • Honor society officer- lots of teaching/community service projects 1 year for a total of 200 hours
  • Employment history

    • Food service industry for 3 years while at community college. Ranged from 8 to 21 hours/ week

    • Worked part time at an addiction treatment facility after graduation. Total of 1000 hours. Clinical stuff included taking vitals, conducting withdrawal assessments and medication administration.

    • Completed an AmeriCorps term this year for a total of 1700 hours. Duties included research, patient assessments and patient education.

A 514 is not an “average MCAT”. Based on MSAR and some individuals I know, Western Michigan University seems to like nontrads with high MCAT and lower gpas who have diverse life experience like yours. Faha knows their stuff, but I can totally second you throwing your name into WMed
