Hi guys. First time poster here planning on applying this cycle. Would really appreciate some advice. @Goro @Faha @LizzyM @gyngyn
AA female and FAP recipient with 3.3 cGPA (after post bacc with 3.7 GPA) and 3.2 sGPA with a 512 MCAT (130/124/127/131). It would’ve been a 3.4 cGPA but got one F in a class I took over the summer at another college because I had to miss an exam and could not make it up. I eventually retook the class in my college and got a B. My GPA all semesters was 3.5/3.47/3.16/2.15/3.48/3.67/3.29/3.65
Had two prior attempts 503 (127/126/126/124) and 504 (127/125/126/126). Concerned about the drop in cars every time.
Clinical hours- 1000+ as an ED medical scribe for 1.5 years.
Shadowing- 50 hours in internal medicine.
Clinical volunteering- 180 hours in an ED
Non-clinical volunteering- ~150 hours and counting doing various projects with Alpha Phi Omega and NY cares. Was planning on applying to Americorps while applying this upcoming year.
Leadership/Teaching/Activities- Was a TA for a biology class and tutored kids for the SAT and NYC regents exams; Rush chair for community service frat; Member of Project Sunshine; Sexual assault advisor; student advisory council
Honors- Neuroscience honor society and dean's list for 3 semesters
Research- About 900 hours with a pub in a low impact journal. My name is middle of the pack. Also one poster and one presentation.
What schools should I apply to? And should I include DO? Will my cars scores hurt me? I’m an NYC resident and went to top 25 school.
