Hello, posting for a friend. Was wondering if there was any chance for low tier MD schools or just stick to DO schools. Any help is appreciated, thank you.
  1. cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS
    3.2x, 3.1x
  2. MCAT score(s) and breakdown

    512 (2 years ago)
    521 (130/132/130/129)
  3. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US)
    CAlifornia
  4. Ethnicity and/or race
    Asian
  5. Undergraduate institution or category
    Average public school
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer)

1300 hours working in two different doctors office (MA and Tech) over 2 years
150+ hours volunteering at hospital as well as triage over 2 years
  7. Research experience and productivity

700 hours at a basic sciences research lab, 2 poster presentations over 2 years
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented
100 hours with a PCP, 5 hours with Cardiologist

  9. Non-clinical volunteering
1000 hours over 2 years with various organizations and churches
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc)

1800 hours working during college and out of college
160 hours with two different companies, each under a year.
454 hours as president of church youth organization.
  11. Relevant honors or awards
  12. Anything else not listed you think might be important

Not specified in these activities, but good fit for schools centered around a religious mission.

I think the best bet would be to do a post-bac or master's degree, and ace the program, if he wants any chance of going to an MD school.

I appreciate the replies. I realized I forgot some information that I think may be relevant, so I edited the original post. The new information includes a previous MCAT score of 512 taken in 2018 as well as the fact that they are a good fit for schools with a more religious centered mission. Would this information affect the range of schools that they can apply to?
