If you are confident you can retake the MCAT and score well; I would encourage it. If not, consider applying DO.

Could you maybe elaborate more on your non-clinical volunteering, i.e. how many hours in how many activities?

Your numbers are generally solid but your non-clinical volunteering is a little low. I'd see about getting at least 50 more hours total.

On the whole you have the makings of a successful applicant but that 507 will hurt you. If I had to guess, unless you have a particularly unique/compelling backstory your best shots of admission will be in state MD schools (likely UCF, FSU, FAU, FIU, and NOVA, but I wouldn't rule out UF, USF or Miami) and maybe a handful of OOS-friendly schools (thinking like Vermont, Belmont, etc.). If you had a significantly larger service component to your application that could open some doors to other MD schools but it's difficult to say what would be enough.

As for whether or not to retake - I think that depends on how you are committed to MD and MD only. If you're okay with the possibility of going to a DO school I'd go for it as is, if not and you really want that MD I would consider a retake (again, this only applies if you think you can raise your score to probably at least a 512-513).

Your mix of non-clinical activities doesn't show me enough service orientation that is otherwise not strongly linked to education or healthcare. I'll be more specific and ask if you have at least 150 hours with your food bank when you submit your application? The more you have the stronger your app will be in this bucket, especially if the activity informs us of your purpose as a physician or healthcare provider. As it stands, I don't see a strong argument or significant campus involvement or impact as a leader. (Again, lacking details.)

How did you study for your MCAT? What techniques (see the MCAT forum) would you adopt if you were going to shoot for a retake (of at least 10 point increase)?
