Hi, I am reapplying this cycle unless I get off a waitlist (in 4 WLs currently). Perhaps I got waitlisted because I applied in September and got late interviews this cycle. Here's my stats:
  1. cGPA and sGPA: 3.80 cGPA and 3.91 sGPA
  2. MCAT score(s): 512 (129/125/129/129) and 518 (131/127/129/131) (518 is most recent)
  3. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US): US Citizen/GA resident
  4. Ethnicity and/or race: ORM
  5. Undergraduate institution or category: Public State School (T50)
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer): Scribe for 1.5 years (~1400 hrs), Volunteer Medical Assistant at a Dialysis Clinic (~700 hrs), Volunteer Medical Assistant at a Free Clinic (~200 hrs)
  7. Research experience: Total research hours across 4 labs (~3500 hrs)
  8. Research productivity: 2 pubs in pre-print (second author in both), 5 posters (first author in all except one), 1 more pub about to be in pre-print (mid author).
  9. Shadowing experience and specialties represented: Neurologist (6 hrs), Nephrologist (70 hrs), Family med (20 hrs)
  10. Non-clinical volunteering: Habitat (300 hrs) and Mentorship (100 hrs). Leadership in both.
  11. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc): Did a research fellowship for 2 years, plan on doing a part-time research internship next year and AmeriCorps in public health or disaster relief.
  12. Relevant honors or awards: Dean's List, Won Dance Competitions
  13. Anything else not listed you think might be important: Dance (~900 hrs + leadership), Tutoring with various subjects (~250 hrs)
Questions that I have:
1. Will the pre-print publications hold any weight and should I still report them in the AMCAS?
2. Will doing AmeriCorps during my gap year improve my chances at volunteer heavy schools like Rush, Loyola, Wake Forest, etc. or will it not matter much?
3. I got accepted into a research fellowship and received a nice stipend to do research for 2 years. Can I put this under awards?
4. Are there more schools I can add to my current list? I plan on applying to 1 school first to process my application and then 40-45 schools by the end of June if I don't get off the waitlist.

Here is a rough list of schools I plan on applying to:

Emory
Stony Brook
Case Western
Mount Sinai
Dartmouth
UAB
Cincinnati
Virginia Tech
Vanderbilt
Temple
Medical College of Wisconsin
Iowa
Drexel
Northwestern
Medical College of Georgia
Illinois
Carle
Stanford
Indiana
Boston
UPitt
UCSF
Hofstra
UMass
Mercer
Commonwealth
Cornell

It doesn't hold that much weight unless you're applying for a PhD track.
2. Will doing AmeriCorps during my gap year improve my chances at volunteer heavy schools like Rush, Loyola, Wake Forest, etc. or will it not matter much?
It will help, but the more hours you log in doing this, the more convincing your profile will be to argue a mission fit. Promised hours generally won't matter at the point of screening.

It should be fine under "research experience."

Why are Mercer and Meharry on your list? For Mercer, why did you choose rural health for becoming a physician? I might be more intrigued if Americorps takes you out to rural communities.

Why is Carle on your list? Tuition and Cost of Attendance, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Meharry will not be on my list. Mercer is on there because of in-state. Carle is there because I have the requirements for the school and I have a bioinformatics background. Tuition is not really my no.1 concern, which I am lucky with, so I don't mind applying to medical schools like Illinois.
