cGPA: 3.27 (significant upward trend of ~90 credits @ 3.95)
AMCAS sGPA: 3.03 (last 30 credits @ 4.0)
AACOMAS sGPA: 3.33
MCAT: 514 (129/126/128/131)
NY Resident w/ strong ties to CA
My plan is to apply to ~50 schools (40 MD, 10 DO).
**SKIP THIS IF YOU DON'T CARE HOW I MADE THE LIST**
Making a list as a reinvention student was difficult since I did not feel like WARS and LizzyM gave an accurate representation of where I should be applying. For MD schools, I did not add any top schools since I have no research experience and I do not think I have a chance.
From here I filtered out schools with strong IS bias and course requirements I did not meet. I was then basically left with a bunch of private "low" and "mid" tier schools. The MD reach list are schools with 514+ MCAT scores; the MD Target list is anything <514.
Using a point system (adapted from an old SDN post) I classified each school using different variables. Cost, location, and attendance requirements were worth 4 points. I added 1 point for schools with more 24-29 aged students, >50% paid clinical experience, long left GPA tail, and "values reinvention" (based on Goro's list). I deducted a point from new schools, schools with strong religious affiliations, and schools with >10000 applications.
