Hi everyone. I am looking for help with my school list. As of now, I have no state of legal residence but I am a U.S. PR that recently moved to NY. If anyone is familiar with a similar situation, I would appreciate any information on when I can be a considered a legal resident of NY for in-state advantages. From the schools I have called, it seems I would have to live in NY for a year prior to matriculating.
1. both cGPA and sGPA: 3.88
2. MCAT score(s): 503->504->514 (128, 125, 131, 130)
3. State of residence: U.S. permanent resident but no state of legal residence as of yet (moved to NY from Canada last month)
4. Ethnicity: South Asian
5. Undergraduate: BSc in Biology
6. Clinical experience: paid: 900 hours as care support assistant in nursing home. volunteer: 150 hours in hospital, 70 hours at COVID Vaccine Clinic
7. Research experience: 700 hours microbiology lab (paid in summer, credit project 2 semesters), 550 hours in Muscle Physiology lab with one middle author publication and one oral presentation at local conference
8. Shadowing experience: 70 hours in internal medicine, 20 hours in otolaryngology
9. Non-clinical volunteering: 200 hours Suicide Hotline Responder, 300 hours as youth yoga mentor for non-profit org, 180 hours with local organizations (tree-planting, soup kitchen, fundraising for families and frontline workers impacted by COVID)
10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc): Co-founder of university peer-to-peer support network for mental health, academic tutor for a year, 2 leadership positions in university clubs, 2 non-clinical summer jobs in customer service
11. Relevant honors or awards: Prestigious research scholarship, award for top 15% in academics at university
Here is my school list. Feel free to suggest any schools I should take out/add. I am also thinking about applying DO so would appreciate some school choices for that too.
Any help is appreciated
