What's your community service? You have lots of tutoring and teaching which is overrepresented among prehealth students. What activity really got you into the community and out of your comfort zone?

My community service includes helping out populations with developmental disabilities. I am currently volunteer with a group the works to create a warm, inclusive social environment for adults with disabilities, who find themselves isolated in a world where they are a minority. I guess this community would be "out of my comfort zone" because I do not identify with many of their disadvantages or traumas, and some of the ways that they express themselves can be startling to the average person.

I love working with children and adolescents, and I have spent most of my premed time working with them. Forming connections is much easier when I am in a leadership position This is definitely the cause of my heavy experience with teaching. My family comes from a third world country where education is quite lacking for those of younger ages, so I have quite a passion for enriching the education of children and adolescents.

Edit: I've also been a mentor for an child from an underserved area. But I wouldn't call this "out of my comfort zone" because I grew up in an area where poverty was a norm...does that still count?
