Hello everyone! I was hoping to get some help with my school list.

1. cGPA: 3.51; sGPA: 3.35
2. BS in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and minor in Psychology
3. MCAT: 516
4. State of Residence: CA
5. Ethnicity: URM (Hispanic/Latino) male
6. School: Large UC school
7. Clinical experience:
   1. 90 hours volunteering at local hospital (paused due to COVID)
8. Research:
   1. 1500 hours
   2. 4th author on published paper, 1st author on submitted paper
   3. 1st author on oral presentation, 2nd and 3rd author on two poster presentations
   4. Have worked for the past 6 months in clinical research (2,000 hours or so)
9. Shadowing:
   1. 180 hours over 3 years, includes surgeries (paused due to COVID)
10. Non-clinical volunteering:
    1. 650 hours with various roles (elementary school PE, food banks, etc)
    2. 120 hours at LGBT community center (I'm gay) as a Spanish-English translator (paused due to COVID)
11. Other extracurricular activities
    1. 4 year rower for my school (ICA) and team captain senior year
    2. President of two major student orgs
    3. Leadership training sessions weekly for 3 years
    4. Academic tutor for 1 year
12. Relevant honors or awards: ~11 awards as a student-athlete + 1 big one for community service/leadership
13. Anything else not listed you think might be important: Native Spanish speaker, open to all specialties

As a bonus question: do my 2,000 clinical research hours help offset my low clinical volunteering hours? I am planning to volunteer 260 more hours in the hospital after it reopens but not sure how much adcoms care about future volunteering.

Do my 2,000 clinical research hours help offset my low clinical volunteering hours? I am planning to volunteer 260 more hours in the hospital after it reopens but not sure how much adcoms care about future volunteering.

In my opinion, research hours are research (what did you do?) and usually are not proxies for clinical experience. But your clinical exposure is actually pretty good (i.e., they're not "low"). How much of your shadowing and clinical experience was in primary care?

That makes sense, thanks. My shadowing was entirely with pediatric surgeons and my hospital volunteering was mostly primary care.
