I have a few questions. I was concerned with my app due to low GPA (one extremely rough semester 1 F and 1 D), although there is quite a bit of upward trend. I wanted to see if that one semester is going to tank my entire application or if it is possible to get through to interviews to explain the situation. I am looking at both MD and DO schools and have an interest in working with pediatrics. I have an extensive list of volunteering and work related experience to back those goals. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

How long have you lived in Texas?

Since you mention it, what are your year-by-year GPA's? How would you explain this?

What draws you into pediatrics? You realize you won't just focus on children and youth in medical school. What have you done to show me you can work with other patient populations that you would encounter in an academic hospital setting?

I have been in Texas for about 6 years.

GPA by year is:
- Year 1: 4.0
- Year 2: 2.4
- Year 3: 3.73
- Year 4: 3.51
I did have some family circumstances going on at the time, but obviously understand it is also my fault that the grades slipped.

And yes, totally understand your point about other patient populations and will keep that in mind.
