Welcome to the forums.

Off the bat, have you connected with any mentoring organizations that promote aspiring Black physicians (especially Black males)? Most of them are connected with the NMA. Have you contacted SNMA chapters at the schools you intend to apply to?

You must add your HBCU medical schools.

Rush usually wants hundreds more hours of service orientation activity. If I included your inner city youth mentorship, I think you would need at least 250 more hours (guessing) to get to 750, to be on par with other applicants. I prefer balancing your hours from food bank to be near equal to your youth mentorship volunteering. That said, being an African American male could still be compelling given the population they serve.

I was apart of my universities medical school SNMA mentorship program and attended many SNMA premedical events.

Thanks for the recommendation. Do you have suggestions of other schools I can add to my list?

Great list above. If you're willing to put in the effort to boost your MCAT 5 points that's a T20 resume.

Definitely connect with your SNMA mentors to see what other schools they liked and if they have contacts there.
