In general, I am told I have a "good application" from the Pitt faculty member I shadowed. They encouraged me to apply to Pitt. Have not received any other feedback from them specifically.

I have not received any feedback from Pitt regarding my DAT score.
oh, ok
i see you edited your OP

your grades are higher than the matriculant average (3.55), but your DAT scores are lower (20.5)
have you checked the OOS/pennsylvania acceptance rates at the schools you have applied to?
my fear is that you have too many OOS publics and too short of a list...

Yes, it does seem like some of the OOS publics are a long shot for me based on acceptance rate. I tried to include as many private schools in PA and immediate surrounding areas as I could. Are there any privates that I should add to the list?

to get interview invites and acceptances, you need to look at mission fit
choose privates in your general geographical area northeast/rust belt, maybe even look at upper midwest...

Mission fit is hard for me to elucidate these days, with most schools having vague, generic, and lengthy mission statements. Do you know of any schools which would fit with a mission of primarily rural dentistry (and are also reasonable w/ my stats)? I have also added LECOM and AT Still to my list.

Bitonte NEOMED COD will definitely fit the bill though it will be a new school. WV will also have a rural focus given its patient demographic. Are you looking at NHSC to help with financing your education?

that is why you need to go beyond looking at mission statements
look at what they show you, not tell you...

I will definitely be applying for NHSC if I can get in! My application theme is oriented in serving rural areas since I grew up and went to college in an underserved location, that's the main reason I asked about rural in the first place.

I agree. Although it is hard, the only school I have been able to scrutinize up close is Pitt. The others, it is hard to know exactly what they "want" (besides researching student experiences on forums, social media, vibes, OOS acceptance rate, etc).
