I'm a Christian, but that sort of thinking is pathetic. Please don't think all Christians subscribe to this, or even creationism, for that matter. I know I don't. Any SDN theistic evolutionists in the house?

wow thats 5 minutes of my life that i wil never have back. i dont get how its supposed be funny. im going to go back to surfing for porn.

He is an extreme thats why its funny and some of his verbal slips i.e. "national pornographic, I mean geographic" I thought the ice shield above the atmosphere was classic, but thats just me.

In addition to the really bad jokes, the worst part for me was when he painted a picture for us of Adam and Eve galavanting with the dinosaurs and then just matter of factly stating that Noah was 600 years old when he built the arc. I couldn't watch much more. I agree with the OP that the water/ice shield concept was interesting, too. I also like how he claims to know "what science is." Where on earth did you find this, OP?

I watched the first 30 minutes or so of it. I disagree with him, but was suprised when he said he used to teach physics.

I was looking for porn/doing homework... then I saw the title on a random search and just had to investigate it. Sorry if anyone is offended by this post, but some of the stuff this guy says is very far out there.

Im a theistic evolutionist. I believe god created and did what he wanted. Sience and faith go well together I think..heck, it was a Belgian priest who devised the big bang theory. Makes up for the Galelio controversy.. 🙄

Yep. The way I look at it is God can use whatever He wants to in creating the world, and I definitely don't see any big conflict between science and faith. Basically, it comes down to whether you have faith or not, and sweating through all the details is just going to make it much more stressful anyway because (I believe) we don't have the proper prospective to be able to understand everything about the reality we live in since we are stuck inside of it ourselves and it is impossible to know all of the facts about it.

I agree with you, except I also think if a god truly created us, we would be too stupid to understand his intent or anything about it. Thats why I am agnostic. This preacher seems really insecure... maybe thats one possible reason why he is trying to over rationalize the whole religion-god topic. He does believe in adaptation, just not evolution 😕

Being agnostic means that you believe it is impossible to know if God exists, not that it's impossible to know God's intent. I don't think anybody claims to know God's intent in everything.

Just curious, why do you say he seems really insecure? The jokes he makes? I think maybe he has a bad sense of humor but to say he is insecure? I think he is a much better public speaker than most people.

as in, if a god exists we would not know its intentions or be capable of understanding what it did my simply reading about it.

I think the preacher is insecure because he spent so much time trying to prove the bible correct as matter of fact. His faith is insecure not his feelings of public speaking (he definitely does a better job than I could ever do). It was just a guess, but it seems like he understands that what the bible says cannot actually happen in reality, however he keeps pushing it and creating more depth by bringing up irrelevant data, thus continually rationalizing it to himself. I gave a diagnosis that is supported only by watching one video and my opinion    so ignore it! sorry!

If you keep watching, not that you should, he actually argues that dinosaurs still exist and are not actually extinct. He actually references a "guy he knows in Washington who saw one".

I don't know how long this thread will last, so I better throw in my two cents now.

Kent Hovind is pretty infamous among the evolution/creation debaters.
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/hovind/ talks about his reputation and dissects his arguments.

My favorite part is the analysis of his PhD thesis. Take a look!

omg his education is even funnier than his sermon! I must admit, he probably knows more about religion, but science  I wonder what level of math and science he taught? Arithmetic and elementary chemistry? Thank you for showing me more about this absurd preacher.

IT'S FROM DRDINO.COM!!!

i swear to god i spent a good 10-15 minutes debating with this girl in my neuro class (for those from cal mcb 165) last year whether or not carbon dating is real!!! she argued that dinosaurs are mentioned in the book of Job and that they still exist today except there's this huge conspiracy about it where we're not supposed to know because our human brains can not deal with this knowledge. and then she directed me to DRDINO.COM!

edit: i'm not trying to offend anyone. i'm just saying... but i do want to know, are there people on SDN who do not think C14 can really tell us approximate ages of certain materials, and if so, can you send me some sites/links?

Ali G is too much. The above link is worth viewing to see Rev. Hovind accused of "leaving a floater." Thanks, Red Dot, for a great laugh!

My favorite part is when he talks about the possibililty of ice being suspended in the atmosphere by the earth's magnetic field

Someone needs to get Louis and David a price for best performance, because they were really into the song (especially the guy to the far right, david?). Made me laugh hysterically! Check them out! 😀

that was too funny.....the homo part was hilarious.

This guy is a freaking joke...I can't believe there are people who actually listen to him and look up to him as a knowledgeable person. He seems like a hack, much like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and that guy who is on late night bible infomercial. Sorry, i really hope there isn't anyone who actually believes what this guy says.

There is a fine line where belief/religion and science split and do not cross over...where one of them is blatantly right and the other is blatantly wrong. Flat world, geocentric universe, 6000 year old world.....its hard to defend things that are just wrong.

Oh Lord...

That's why I think people should be required to have a license to breed (AKA "make babies"). Fundamentalism is dangerous folks.
