Hi

Sorry for the long question,

I'm currently in the USA completing my USMLE exam,,,,, I worked back in my country as an anaesthetist for 2 years.....I am looking forward to apply for anesthesia in Sep 2011..I'm currently working as a part time volunteer in an anesthesia research program....
Recently I had an opportunity to get an observership in surgery (specifically transplant surgery), I was told that getting to this observership may negatively affect my anesthesia application in the match since it would show me as ( a doctor with no focus )..
Is that really true....I mean can an observership do more harm that not having any at all...even if its not in your desired specialty....

Thanks in advance

Dear friend,
let me tell you that working in research will not benefit you at all. as most of the programs do not even consider research as an experience. otherwise its up to you you can go ahead. I am telling you this from my own experience:(

Thanks for the reply....

what do you mean by ( working in research will not benefit you at all )..
Isn't it better than leaving a gap in my C.V.???
