Given that warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia causes EXTRAvascular hemolysis, why do you sometimes see hemoglobinuria in severe warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia?

Thanks!

AIHA has the characteristic spherocytes seen on the peripheral smear. These spherocytes hava a hard time passing through the kidneys and hence you see them/or there by products in the urine.

My guess is the blood cells bust prior to leaving the blood vessels?

sorry i didn't finish...then they get washed away and essentially "peed out"w/the other debris??
