I was wondering if anyone has gotten off of Wash U's waitlist yet. I have not heard anything so far. Please post if you hear from them. Thanks so much! :)

Bumping my own thread. Anyways, please post if you have heard from Wash U and even if you haven't, post if you call or know any more info about the "unranked" waitlist. Thanks! :)

hi! i started a washu waitlist thread a while ago but i think it fell into the dregs of sdn threads...i haven't personally heard anything, but i do know that they are calling people now; gobears has a friend who was called, and i called thursday and they confirmed this at the admissions office. i haven't heard anything yet either, tho...best of luck, and post when you do hear!

Thanks for the info-although it is depressing that I have not been called yet :( . Did you send them any letters. I just mailed them an update/interest letter so it probably wont get to them until this week. oh well, cant do anything about it now. Good Luck to you too! :)

Hey guys, I just withdrew from the Wash U waitlist today, I hope this helps your chances getting in.

waiting123...i have sent two update letters...one a while ago with just course updates and fall grades and what i'm doing right now...and another i sent about a month ago that claimed they were my first choice...sending one is obviously a good idea since they stressed when we interviewed, so all we can do now is wait!

chicago dude: THANK YOU. i will be going home to indiana (i live like an hour from chicago) in about three weeks after graduation and i'm about ready to offer you and gobears drinks somewhere in the windy city!!! muah muah muah!

just withdrew from the waitlist too -- best of luck to all. I am pulling for you!!!!

Free drinks! Awesome! Chicagodude, where are you going over Wash U?

Thanks for withdrawing guys! Maybe I will hear soon now! Good Luck to you strange attractor! :)

I just received the call yesterday. I never did send a letter of interest though, so I guess it's not a necessity. Now I have to withdraw my acceptance from OHSU. Good luck to all of you!

I'll be at U Penn this Fall. Penn has been my first choice for a long time, but between them and Wash U it basically came down to who called me first. If neither had called I would be at Northwestern this fall so if anyone is waiting for that a spot has cleared up there too.

I'm thrilled that Penn called first. The campus is beautiful and together with the rest of the University schools, the staff has been extremely supportive and the match list/specialties are quite impressive. It's also a little scary because all my family and friends are in the Midwest and I have never lived outside of St. Louis or Chicago my whole life.

See you in the fall!!
Oh, and congratulations Chicagodude!

i got the wonderful call on thursday, so i'm withdrawing from vanderbilt and making plans to live in st. louis. it's funny b/c i was planning to drive to nashville on monday to look at apartments just in case. good luck to the rest of you, i know exactly how you feel!

Can it be that no one else has gotten a call from Dr. Dodson?

Ah, well, I thought I'd rescue this one, as well, from being lost in the back pages of the bulletin board.

No prizes for figuring out which med schools where I'm on the wait list.

I think I'll bump this up but this wait is killing me!! Have a great day you all!! It is hot over here in Cali now!!

hahah i lost my mailbox key half a week ago. it might be a good thing...hahahah...i'm almost getting USED to this waiting deal, and every day i don't get a rejection is a happy day!

AM I LOSING MY MIND OR WHAT???

the manager drove over to my house today and opened up the mailbox for me...NO REJECTION LETTER! yippee...

i think i'm going to start working on sending telepathic messages to the dean...<holding fingers to temples>...let me in...let me in...

Haha, maybe I should do that too. In the meantime, I am still waiting and wondering if they are even looking at my file!! SHEESH! :)

The sad part is that even tho I am still waiting people in the next cycle can already apply for next year!! I better find out before these people take the next mcat or get accepted for next year's cycle, haha!

Okay I called this morning and the lady said that they had taken some people off the waitlist already. She didn't help when I asked if they were going to take off some more-she said that it depends on how many spots open up. Anyways, just wanted to let you all know! By the way, is it just me or are you guys starting to hate the people at the schools you are waitlisted at for being so unhelpful/uninformative? AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Let's see, I think it's only the 3 of us (strangeattractor, waiting123, and Dark Sandbars) that are intensely interested in seeing the Wash U. waitlist move to our advantage.

Nothing wrong with it, I guess.

This should be an excuse to play with Graemlins.
 :) :D  <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

I am on the waitlist too. I called them and they said it is unranked and they look at everyone once a spot is opened.

Have you been writing often or at all with letters of interest, updates, etc? If so, how much impact do you suspect these letters have with the AdCom?

waiting123, strangeattractor, and Dark Sandbars, congrats on even being placed on the Wash U. wait list. What are your stats (MCAT, GPA, etc...), if you wouldn't mind sharing? Good luck to all of you on your acceptances.

hey all,

i can comiserate, being frantic about not getting into wash u, also my top choice, but good luck came and i was accepted!

so, in order to help out my ex-fellow waitlisters, here's what my pre-med advisor said about wash u. she said since wash u is a midwestern school and it loses so many people to east/west coast schools, it seems to especially want numerous reassurances that you would go if accepted. i sent in a letter of intent before i was decisioned and an update letter in april. if you have anything new to say then definitely send a letter. so that's the word from my advisor (at jhu, if that matters).

good luck!

Hey lorarp, you are very lucky, I wish I was as lucky as you to get in! Anyways I sent in like two update letters, one early may and one late may. That's all. They know that I will attend but I dont think these have helped that much-I still have not gotten in and I have a feeling my chances are slim when july starts. Anyways, i dont think the update letters helped that much cause I included a lot of new stuff that I had done but still nothing. Anyways, I am very pessimistic about getting off of any of the waitlists I am on. I think your situation was different casue at least you found out awhile ago-i think that it is so late now there is little hope. AND I went to undergrad in the midwest so they know I would have gone. My stats were pretty high and extracurrics good so I dont know what the problem is. I think this thing about an unranked waitlist is also bull **it. I think they could easily rank you and tell you your chances if they wanted but they are obviously unhelpful with telling you how you get in off the waitlist. At least at u of mich they tell you your tier.

Don't lose hope guys. There are still some of us WashU'ers still waiting on other schools.

DALABROKA,

Wash U apparently has a reputation for being very proud of having a class with a very high MCAT score. Others on SDN may want to contribute on that topic based on what they have heard. There might even be a thread out there.

However, the numbers are only half the equation: once you get the interview, you need to show your softer side, your passion for medicine. In my case, I'll freely admit that this was difficult for me to demonstrate convincingly, despite my firmly held internal beliefs.

Good luck!

Bumping! I am seriously starting to hate this school as much as I want to go there  !!! Here's hoping for the best

sadly enough, I am bumping this thread again!

i called a few days ago, and the lady i talked to was quite hostile over the phone, she wouldn't tell me any infomration, even general questions went unaswered. luckily i didnt give my name. also she said that the class was at target capacity. she wouldnt tell me how many people are on the list nor my spot. Didnt they say 50 people would come off if that letter they sent way back?

Rescued from the back-pages!

Anyone with positive news?

Heck, anyone with negative news?

I was accepted from the waiting list late last week.
