Sorry I just had to rant on this one. I am about to finish up my PhD, and WashU wants me to get my ACT score (from 9 years ago.) Not just the overall, but the freaking breakdown! Great, I guess I will have to pay some stupid fee and wait for ACT Corp to mail me my scores. I am pretty sure I can dig up my GRE scores. Oh yeah, did I mention the Dean Certification. Thats another form that needs to be mailed to every single school. I am beginning to get the feeling that they want us to jump through these asinine hoops just to prove that we are dedicated.

Screw it, you don't wanna go to Saint Louis anyway, just forget the whole deal.

I reported my SAT scores simply b/c they were on my university's unofficial transcripts (otherwise, how would I remember?), didn't give my rank/# students in class, etc. - they said it's not necessary when another SDNr asked - it's more like, if you remember, here it is kinda deal IMO

I might have to leave the ACT part blank. The ACT Corp needs to know what month and year I took the test in order to send them to me. Thanks for reminding me about high school. I forgot to rail on them for that one.

My parents did their residencies at Wash U.... my mother says Wash U is worth it, but it's miserable climate among other things... If it says anything, my rents moved as soon as their residency was complete....

Plus the Cardinals totally blow. Go CUBS!!!!

If memory serves me right... (yes that's an Iron Chef reference), the ACT or SAT scores were optional. WashU is odd indeed. What was with the Dean's letter? Of course I wasn't expelled from my school.

The Dean's letter is by far the most BS thing I've encountered in the entire application process. Doesn't that kind of crap show up on your transcript anyways?

are you kidding me?
Have you looked at the standings lately?
I mean, you might be higher up there if Prior and Wood didn't spend more time on the DL than Griffey.

yeah, the cubs will still always be better than the cardinals... simply because chicago is 100000 times better than St. Louis...

you might not mind it though, coming from Ithaca, NY..

I am a Cubs fan, but anyone who says the Cubs are better than the Cardinals is on crack. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Cards are the 2nd most successful team in baseball history behind the Yankees. The best thing we Cubs fans had going was that we were better than the Sox, and even that is no more 🙁

On the topic of WashU, if this is so much of a pain then why apply? Make it easier on the rest of us.

Hmmm I remember my scores quite clearly on both. I remember the SAT's breakdown because there are only two sections, but the ACT is not so clear anymore. How could people forget there overall scores though?

It seems like everyone in my highschool knew not only his or her score but the scores of all 150 classmates and probably the scrores of the upper classman too.

I still remember my overall, but WashU wants the breakdown which has 4 parts.

Just read the thread. And now I think that other schools should ADOPT the dean's letter of WashU. I can't belive people are lying on their AMCAS by saying they've never received an institutional action, when they in fact have. My goodness, remember that one quality they look for in applicants is altruism and character, apparently honesty isn't important to some applicants.

You are obviously not a cubs fan. No cubs fan in his right mind would utter such nonsense. Busch is great if you don't mind going to a stadium with a bunch of yahoos that look like your avatar. I'll take Wrigley and my loveable losers any day.

Bwahahah !!!! I love it. Yes Cardinals fans do have roughly a 50/50 chance of having a power mullet.

I love the Cubs, but objectively the Cards are a lot more successful. No one can deny that.

You need to have the Dean of every school you got a degree from fill out this *****ic form about disciplinary actions and reduced course load.

I'd say that the dean's form doesn't necessarily screen for character...but it sure does sceen for stupidity (lying on the AMCAS)! 🙂

OP (and others)....I left those high school data fields blank. I only did one dean's form for the school which granted my degree.

Completely and udderly wrong. Only WashU and MCW have Dean Certification forms.

He wasn't saying that every med school asks for them, just that Wash u asks for one from all of your schools. Udderly.

Are you sure about the Dean's letter? I don't remember doing one and I was quite successful with WUSTL.

It's a required checkmark within the app. and listed as an item whose reciept constitutes a completed application. Here's the text from the website:

CERTIFICATION BY CURRENT DEAN OF STUDENTS:
Certification form(s) must be submitted on your behalf by an official at each domestic undergraduate or graduate institution from which you have received or expect to receive a degree in addition to any other school in which you were enrolled and were involved in a disciplinary or institutional action.

Print the form, complete the information applicant identifying information, check the waiver statement and sign. Then deliver the form to the appropriate institutional official(s) that you indicated on the Supplemental Application. Original document with signature is required. Note that no admissions decision can be made until these forms have been returned to the School of Medicine.

Two parents who went to Washington U. Major pressure. Have you considered other professions or are you convinced you want to be like your mom and dad? What are the expectations of your parents? What do you love?
