Hello fellow students.

I am starting school this September and am completely unfamiliar with the Waterloo area. I've looked through the off-campus housing sites provided in the orientation package but I'm not sure what areas are better than others. So I have a few questions

- What areas would you recommend or avoid?
- How bus accessible is the city? Is a bus pass included in our tuition?
- Anyone else looking for a roommate? 🙂

See you all in September!!

Heya,

....I just rediscovered this website and 'Waterloo' caught my eye right away.

When you pay tuiton, you get a "Watcard". You use it for identification, photocoping, library loans, etc. It also serves as a bus pass 🙂

Anywhere in the Waterloo area is good really...I'd definately stay in Waterloo, not Kitchener. North of Waterloo the buses run less frequently to campus then if you were living south of campus...The King Street area is pretty popular/part of "up-town" Waterloo. Try facebook for finding roommates, that's what most UW students are doing.

Hope that helps!

If you find a specific place to live and wonder more about it, I might be able to answer your questions, just send me a PM.

Has anyone started a facebook page for your class? Many of my classmates found roommates in the same year and it has worked out well. You can give that a try!
