DocGibby,
like you I have been accepted at MSUCOM. I am thrilled about that! By the way, thank you for your advice. I interviewed at Wayne in February and am on the alternate list. I would be happy at either program, but am leaning toward MSUCOM (even if I did get into Wayne). I would second all of Robb1818's comments.
As for some details, Wayne accepts students 4 times a year. On a specific date during the last week of Nov, Jan, March, and May. On these dates, you can call and find out your status. When you interview, they will give you a list of these dates. The tough part is waiting for 2 months in some cases. You'll be up for the decision date in May. After May, a wait or alternate list is set-up. I'm still not sure if Wayne considers these two words to be synonymous. They may or may not rank this wait list. In some years past they have ranked it, but last year they did not.
They interview into May and even in some cases as late as June (I know a guy who interviewed in the middle of June, wait listed and didn't get accepted off the wait list).
Wayne accepts aproximately 1/4 of its class at each of the 4 acceptance dates. The reason why they do this (as someone in Admissions told me) is that in the past they would fill their class by December. Sometimes they had exceptional applicants who applied late. Since they'd fill their class on a rolling admissions basis, they couldn't offer a spot for these "better applicants". Actually works in their favor.
Those who were previously wait listed (like at the March decision date) are put back in the pool and MAY be re-evaluated again with the next set of applicants (in May). Regardless, these people will be on a wait list after May if they're not accepted before then.
As for the interview, they do ask for SAT or ACT scores, high school stuff, and weaknesses or glitches in your record. Be prepared to defend/justify these weaknesses, if any. Some interviews are easy going and some can be very condescending. I'd suggest having the mind set of...be prepared for anything.
My interviewer only had my AMCAS in front of him.
Decisions are made on a voting system in which each member of the Ad Comm rates you on a scale from 1-3. Those with the highest total numbers are accepted for that round. The rest are wait listed or rejected.
Wayne is very big on high MCAT scores. If you possess these, you've surpassed a big hurdle.
Good luck! If you have any more questions. I'd be happy to help.
