Assuming you have a 510, which I think is "average" for MD, a 3.4 is a little on the low side. Your state school would probably still take a look at your application. You still have a chance if you apply very broadly and perhaps consider DO. Also be aware that your undergraduate institution carries little weight with most schools other than the top MD programs in the country, and your GPA makes that a bit of a moot point.
Of course, this all depends on what you mean by an "average" MCAT. If you literally mean average (ie, 500), you have no chance at MD and very little chance at DO.
i go to a fairly good school in US.
but unforutanltey, i ended up with a pretty “bad” gpa of around 3.4. I have done about 1000 hours of volunteering on the other hand and have had a lot of leadership positions. What are my options now? I scored average on mcat as well. should i try to take a gap year? masters? should i just apply? Would my gpa just make me screened out regardless of all my activities?
