Weird to be a patient of a doc you shadowed?

I shadowed a doctor two or three times last year.... He works at a clinic where there are multiple doctors, and I liked how they worked and they seemed like great people/doctors, so I needed to make an appointment and I thought i'd see one of the other doctors at that clinic. When i called to make the appointment, they scheduled me with the doctor that I shadowed b/c the other doctor was unavailable....

Is this weird/taboo?? I'm not sure if i should reschedule and go somewhere else.

The doctor that I shadowed, work for, and who wrote my LORs is my orthopedist, and I use him for all my sports related injuries, including 3 knee surgeries (2 ACL repairs). I don't think it's taboo at all, actually, it's very nice to have a doctor who knows you fairly well! I could see it being uncomfortable if it was something very personal, but for a general sinus infection or something, I wouldn't worry. :)

Meggielou, he's talking about an actual doctor's appointment. Not "playing doctor"

I should add... I haven't shadowed anyone formally, but I have volunteered and been employed at a very busy ER, and I got one of the docs to lance and drain an abscess on my ass that I got from being on the bike all the time. This thing was gross, and right next to the exit. It was really painful, and I just didn't want it to spread to my balls, and I wanted to return to my training ASAP. At that point, I didn't think twice about it. I just got him to deal with it, and no worries. He was more than happy to help out. And no, he's not gay.

Ryserr I think it would have the potential to be. I shadowed my personal FP and there are just some things I know I will be more comfortable discussing elsewhere.

No its not weird. The Doc I shadowed is now my PCP. However, dont go see this Doc you speak of if your needing to get rid of the clap, but I'd say go for it for your sore throats insomnia ect....

i have an appointment with shadowing doc tomorro at 845 AM! i couldnt take it anymore, so i emailed him and asked him what he thought and he said he was totally cool with it and even understood if i was more comfortable with another physician. so it all worked out and i'm seeing him tomorrow.

Why would it be weird? You'd actually have some rapport.
