I applied to a handful, and have not been accepted into any. There are still two I have yet to hear back from. Congrats for getting accepted into AIC, moving across the country will be exciting, enjoy it.
Thanks, and good luck, don't give up!

I just received notification- did not get in either. Interviewed May 13th. I'm heartbroken but glad I'm not alone. Congrats to all who made it in and best of luck to all of us who will be applying again. Stay positive!

I received my acceptance last week, and just declined my spot so hopefully someone else should be hearing back soon!

To everyone who go accepted, what are you guys doing for housing? / does anyone need a roommate?

because I'll be moving from Virginia and I have no clue about housing situation in LA.

I'm currently looking for places to rent. I'm from northern California, but I'm not that familiar with the different areas in LA. Trying to figure it out...

I'm also from norcal...I wonder if they'll make us a Facebook page or we'd have to make our own? Looking for housing and settling in would make it easier if we have one.

Hi guys!
I'm just looking for a glimmer of hope here because I've invested so much time and started to believe I could get into a program. Can someone tell me and be absolutely realistic and honest with me PLEASE! Here are my stats:
Major: kinesiology
Emphasis: health promotion
CGPA: 3.63
PGPA: 3.63 as well
Last 60 credits: 4.0
Sorority: Sigma Kappa
Honor Society: Golden Key Honors Society
Volunteer hours:
Hand therapy: 31 hrs
Out-patient rehab: 31 hrs
Out-patient Pediatric OT: 42 hrs (in clinic)
Out-patient pediatric OT: 85 hours (all hippotherapy, which is basically OT while on a horse)
Out-patient pediatric OT: 200 hrs (in clinic and in-home early intervention)

Work:
Build A Bear Workshop 2013-2016
Administrative Assistant in an OT clinic: May 2016 to present
The place where I did my 200 hours hired me

My First Aid/CPR/AED verification just expired.

WCU is my #1 school. They have amazing and dedicated faculty that are up to date with technology and pushing the philosophy of occupation therapy forward, not to mention that they are well known in the OT community with many presenting and taking on leadership roles in the AOTA and OTAC. Furthermore, the energy and passion that these professors have make me believe that they want the students to succeed and become competent professionals and advocates in the field. The students I have met from WCU also have this amazing energy and enthusiasm for OT and makes the future sound so bright, which is what I want to be part of and would take great pride in. There is also a vibe that I get from the students as well that makes it seem like the program is so great, but I can't put my finger on it or understand it unless I am part of it, the experience of the school I suppose, and I find that very intriguing. The OT clinic where I work also has a contract with the school so I have the opportunity to get to know level II fieldwork students to learn more about the school and their real experience within it and I have heard nothing but positive things although I have heard the curriculum is challenging. But of course grad school would be this way. I also met the fieldwork professor (I'm not sure how to spell her name) on two separate occasions both outside of info sessions. One at a volunteer event she hosted. Also I provided her with a connection to my volunteer site in LA and she's now working on getting a contract with them for fieldwork.

I do enjoy looking up OT stuff (for kids mainly) on social media and reading about sensory integration, proprioceptive and vestibular systems, tactile defensiveness, etc. and how it relates to learning and classroom challenges, it's really fascinating! I also have started reading OT textbooks haha. Just so I'm decently immersed in the field as much as possible.

I don't have much leadership experience aside from my sorority involvement.

I don't have much experience working with special needs kids aside from my volunteering but I did just get hired as an ABA therapist.

Any advice on what I should do or my chances would be greatly appreciated!!

Best of luck to you all, it's just getting harder every year!

Wow! You have some pretty good stats, but I do think the interview is crucial. I've seen a lot of other posts with not that great of stats, but got accepted.

I'm in for Spring 2017 so if you/anyone or even current students have any ideas for housing .. please share.

Just finished my interview. Can anyone tell me when they send out the rejection/acceptance e-mails?

How was it? Was it with more than one person and did you have to write an essay?

Thanks. I've been so anxious about this! West Coast is my top school! I had my interview with Dr. Van Den Heever (OMG I totally freaked out in a good way haha) in early August and I think I did really well. The essay portion I think I did okay with.. I hate timed writing. But I think I laid out my points well. It's just SO competitive! Mary said they are only accepting 28 people... AHHH!
How did you receive early acceptance?

It was okay. My Skype wasn't working properly so that was embarrassing :/ And it was with one person. Yes I did have to write an essay.

Oh you had the Skype interview, really nervous about my in-person interview on the 16th. I will try to ask when they will start sending acceptance/rejections letters then.

I'm sure you will get in! There's less competitiveness in the Spring cycle due to application deadlines, but WCU has become more popular with OT. If you feel pretty good about your overall application, you'll be fine. I applied for Fall 2016. I was wait-listed, offered a spot, then declined it to accept a position for Spring 2017.

Oh I didn't know you could decline and just be put in the next cohort! That's cool! I didn't know they would allow that

Gah has anyone heard about spring acceptance yet?! I'm losing my mind!

I've read that West Coast requires students to travel out of state for 3 months for their last fieldwork assignment. Does anyone know if this is true??

Today's the day! Good luck guys :) maybe it's a surprise and they're just going to accept all of us :) I wonder how many they interviewed, had to be well around 50-70

True!

To be honest, I don't think they're going to send them out today. I bet next week or the following.

I'm also waiting ....! :arghh:
