Western Pomona vs. KCU-Kansas City

Hey everyone! Fortunate to have been accepted to Western Pomona and KCU Kansas City. Both are great schools and am torn between the two. Live out-of-state but Western is only 5-hour drive from home state. Beside cost and location, is one a better school vs the other? I have not been to either campus due to COVID restrictions and appreciate any advice/input. Thank you in advance!

Western Pomona
Pros
  • Great weather, half-day drive from home.
  • Pass/High pass/Honor and Systems-Based curriculum.
  • Most rotations in CA.
  • Strong first-time pass rates and residency placements.
Cons
  • About $10K more per year and higher cost of living.

KCU – Kansas City
Pros
  • Newly built in 2020 Center for Medical Education Innovation
  • About $10K less per year and lower cost of living.
  • Also Pass/Fail/Honors and Systems-Based curriculum.
  • 23 clinical core sites within 9 states across the country.
  • Established program w strong first-time pass rates and residency placements.
  • Some extended family lives in area.
Cons
  • Cold weather and snow.
  • Far from home state where I would like to eventually practice.

Save yourself the money and go KCU. Also where you go to medical school isn't as important as where you go for residency when it comes to where you will end up practicing. So save yourself the 10k+ a year and learn how to drive in the snow for a few years.
