Its a tough list to choose from, but right now biochem is really pissin' me off.......

I'd put your "doctoring" course or whatever they're calling it at your med school. in the poll as well.

What genetics and immunology? my vote goes for one of those two.

NEURO.

there aren't strong enough words to express my dislike of neuroscience. i'm sorry, but even talking about the damn subject has gotten my area postrema all bothered, and i must go throw up now.

true dat, I would add them if I knew how to  anyone know how to add options to polls?

my two most hated subjects are gross and embryology. no, make that three and add histology... not surprising considering they're all anatomy. i f*cking hate anatomy. neuroanatomy however is ok with me. NEURO IS THE BEST.

Where is histology on this list!?!?! That's my vote.

Nice to see no one has chosen physio yet....physio RAWKS!!!!:horns:

I don't hate anything so far

Biochem BLOWS! You are so screwed if you don't have a background in this stuff! Why don't they make classes like biochem, cell bio, molecular bio prerequisites? If you haven't taken these classes...you are screwed because 2/3 of your class will have taken these classes before and now you are at the bottom of the pile!

argh! signal transduction and electrophys are kicking my ass    it's like a foreign language and you don't want to learn to speak. and electrophys is so counter-intuitive. feels good to vent though. i miss the easy days of HPDP............

I think histo is synonymous to "tissue biology" in this poll. Histo is pretty damn boring first year I know, but make sure you get the basics down...it will make life in pathology much easier

with biochem however, I at least found I have forgotten almost everything already and it will probably look as foreign to me as ever come Step 1 time

Embryology sucks. You have one structure... and it changes every day of the embryo's development... and each day that it changes, it gets a new name that becomes longer and harder to memorize.

DW, sometimes I think we go to the same school.

Don't really hate any at this point. Med school rules. :D Maybe later, but I doubt it.

i change my vote. i think i'm falling in love................with physiology! it's all starting to make sense. i think that makes me a nerd. oh well.

i'm guessing your school started in september, right?....if so, you should check out this poll in a month or so

Yeah, pretty much. Last week of August. Maybe I'll be singing another tune after exams in two weeks. I don't know. I like it.

gross anatomy requires a fundamental shift in my nature. you can't think, you just memorize. memorize, memorize, memorize, :( :scared:  antomy is like a cruel joke.

I agree with the memorize, memorize part...but I love it...one time when my semi-photographic visual memory actually helps me! :p

But I envy you with the biochem...both physio and biochem are going way over my head most of the time...that's what I get from never taking a college physics or gen chem class (crammed for the AP exams in high school and got college credit)...yikes! Need a tutor or I think I'll fail! :scared:

I hate EMBRIOLOGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. Neuroscience is the pain

1.embryo
2.neuro

Still don't really hate any classes over here. Medical school is pretty sweet.

WHAT ABOUT PATHOLOGY???

I just got home from some frickin two-hour lab that was completely useless. I just hate that class so much ....

Isn't that usually a second year class?

I HATED histology with every H&E stained fiber of my being....
Eosinophilic/Basophilic my a$$--everything looked various shades of pink

Agreed! I'm taking it now and it would be ok if I didn't have to memorize al the H&E stained fibers.

i couldn't hate physiology any more at this point. i used to LOVE it in undergrad. but FFS, dipoles and resistance and conductance...are we in physics here???? i thought (prayed) the MCAT was the last i would ever see of physics...
i probably hate biochem more, but since its already over, the hatred is dying down.

Worst second year class here by far. That and all the other ******ed classes they include with it and force us to show up to/do things for.

Here we have path in the first year.

Neat. Or should I say, as you hate it so much . . not neat.

 Haha. . This is probably what I would I choose too.

It's an ok class this year, but we are always pretending to interview each other with pretend diseases. So sometimes I am. . for example . . and abused woman. Man would I be a scary looking woman.

epidemiology/biostats...... i HATE messing with those equations/numbers.

Neuronix, you think doctoring is really bad?? argh heh

Welp... I thought they were all interesting classes. Epidemiology though looks like some weird training I got as a telemarketer.

I think physio and biochem were not properly taught, but mainly because it was taught in too little time.

Gee its so hard to decide which I hate most. October is the worst month at my school and to top it all off we have a brand new curriculum that blows. I guess if I had to choos I would pick gross. I will never get used to the smell of the lab. It makes me sick every time I walk in.

"Social Medicine,"

Otherwise, anatomy is a stinker, especially when I didn't take it before and tons of other people did and I am like, swimming on the bottom somewhere.

NEURO (just because it really can't be expressed enough).

For all you embryo haters out there, do you have the high yield embryo book? My histo teacher wrote that book, and while he doesn't teach most embryo at my school, what he did teach was the only stuff I really understood. Other than that, all I have to say is that Simbryo is fantastic once you get past the porn music. ;)

Doctoring isn't that bad on its own, except when you have to take two hours out a couple days before an exam. But that's still not a huge deal. It's everything that comes along with doctoring later, like DLPCE. Writing several papers a semester and trying to track down a standardized patient who lives far away from you. Then when they have a doctor's appointment you're expected to sit there with them for as long as you can. Then you have to shadow a home visit doctor. Really, it's never just one thing, it's the combination of all the things that suck up a second year's afternoon. You begin to wonder when you're supposed to be studying for med school... At least pulmonary black was tame. Culture matters was a complete waste of time, not because culture is unimportant, but because it was poorly taught. HCS has been for the most part poorly taught and a waste of time, except now they force you to write a term paper for it like you're still in undergrad.

It's really just like they want to throw in the PC stuff to tell applicants and the world just how PC they are. When you're in module 2, you'll have alot less time to waste and all of a sudden you start prioritizing what you want to go to. So, what happens is nobody shows up to these events. What's the response from the adminstration? Make them more useful? Cancelled due to lack of student interest? No! Tests, projects, and sign in sheets. Miserableness of second years ensues. As an MD/PhD we're supposed to be doing research. Well we're also supposed to have three afternoons a week off, at least that's what they tell our mentors and grad groups. We're lucky to get one afternoon a week off right now, and that's when we're studying. I think it's getting worse every year, with more and more ways to force us to show up to more and more things, so I wonder when something is going to give.

Welp... I thought they were all interesting classes. Epidemiology though looks like some weird training I got as a telemarketer.

Epi is continued as CDM, which is also... a complete waste of time. The only thing that keeps us going? Sign-in sheets and projects we have to do for it. You'll get more physio in the organ blocks. As for biochem? Uhhh, I'm not sure we ever learn it. I'm convinced it's because there's not an MD in the world (besides those who were chemists previously) who actually knows any biochem outside of drug mechanisms which you will learn.

i hate spending hours typing up a stupid learning issue for pbl that probably no one ends up really reading. arghhhhhhhh
