Looking at the cost of living numbers from MSAR I'm just wondering what all this includes?

The amount of money it takes to keep you alive on a daily basis, what that entails depends on how you live. Example nudists don't require clothing so that is not factored into their cost of living.

If you go to medical schools' websites, most of them have a "Financial Aid" section and usually has a link to a "budget," "tuition & fees," or something similar. Here, you can find how much you're allocated for certain things like clothing, food, transportation, miscellaneous, etc.
