Postbacc student, BS in Kinesiology

• Live in Louisiana

• applying to both LSU New Orleans and Shreveport, Tulane, many DO schools, several OOS friendly MD programs, and USUHS.

• cGPA (undergrad) 3.33

• postbacc GPA 3.8

• sGPA 3.56

• MCAT 512

• No research

• Been an ER tech for 18 months, >1000 hours.

• Clinical volunteering ~40 hrs so far

• Have about 400 hours non clinical volunteering. Currently dedicate ~8hrs/week to the local VA PT/OT clinic

• EM shadowing-MD, 40 hrs

• Neonatologist shadowing-MD, 10 hrs

• General surgery shadowing-DO 10 hrs

• ECs include AED, student advisory committee for rec center, Kinesiology Club, local outdoors interest group for kayaking and rock climbing, intramural flag football team captain. As far as leadership, I was a Career Peer at LSU, which was essentially a job search mentor and outreach position to educate students on how to build a resume & cover letter and how to interview. Also tutored a few students in Ochem.

• Employment history:

-current ER tech ~18 months, >1000 hours clinical experience

-assistant manager anytime fitness ~ 1 year

-admin assistant at a cardiology practice ~8 months

-career services outreach ~ 1 year

-fitness assistant at UREC ~ 1 year

-office assistant at LSU sea grant ~ 1 year

Do I have a decent shot at getting in? I'm taking more science classes currently, still trying to get my GPA up. By August it should be a cGPA of ~3.5

You are competitive for all DO schools. You could also receive interviews at your 3 Louisiana schools.
