So just got board scores back. I am overall satisfied. Put in a lot of work and took both exams.

USMLE Step 1 230

COMLEX I 672

So I am completely undecided, but I was wondering what my chances are based purely on board scores for some of the specialties? Is the AOA derm dream actually possible? What about ortho, ENT ect.

Pretty sure with that USMLE score I am not too competitive for things in the allo match, but who knows...Any feedback about this would be appreciated.

Thanks for any feedback!

PS: So do I have to keep taking both as I move on to step II and III? Would also appreciate any light shedding on that topic as well. Thanks!

For the competitive specialities, you will most likely need to take USMLE step II (depending the field). If you are really going to go at the hyper competitive specialties, you need research. As to how much, I cannot give you an answer. However, you will need to put your best foot forward in this case. So try to beef up your application in whatever way possible.

I wouldn't suggest ACGME programs in the hyper competitive fields at this time...

For ACGME sites, this can help give you an idea:
