There's a good chance that I'm going leaving my home state for school, and I won't know anybody there. For those of you in my situation, where are you going to live? Are you going to send in one of those housing forms to search for a roommate, or do you plan on living in a single? Or perhaps on-campus housing? Also, how are you going about this? Class doesn't start for another 3 months, and I feel like I should be doing something right now.

On campus if you can get it! It's almost universally cheaper and closer.

here's my deal. i'm accepted at a state school that i like in a city i don't like, and waitlisted at a private school that i think is ok in a city that i love, and i'm trying to get the school roommate hook up and looking for single apts. both. it would be great to have it all taken care: which school, which living arrangement, and what roomie, but i'm just trying to cover all my bases and hopefully i won't end up on a park bench.

I'm trying to get into a medical fraternity. Cheap housing, close to class, and housemates with similar goals. can't beat it. :)

Oldman, you look about 22 in your picture, but because of your handle, I'm going to guess that you're 26.

Many schools in the midwest have them. Phi Rho Sigma began at Northwestern. Univ of Iowa has a chapter and so do lots of other schools. Not all have houses though.

Are med frats only at midwest schools? MN has 3 of them and they all have houses.

Next year, I will be a loner! I don't want any roomate drama! Especially not the first year.

Hey WaitingImpatiently. I'm in a similar situation. I'm out of state and most likely going to Ohio State and starting my apartment search. I've looked into the whole Ohio residency thing and called the registrar. I still don't know 100% about the deal, but it sounded like they care that you have sufficient "Ohio based" income to cover expenses. I don't think if you lived on campus vs. off campus that would make a difference. The bigger problems had to do with having financial aid that depended on your being a resident in a different state. It shouldn't be a huge hurdle to get Ohio residency since the medschool says that pretty much all out of staters get it by their second year.

I plan to get a roomate but I think I might have to choose off a list. I wish there was a roomate fair or some way to meet everybody and then pick someone you would want to live with. I'm not going to get housing until later in the summer when my hope of getting in opff a waitlist dwindles down.

I am gonna check up on the school housing office first to see if anyone's in need of roommate(s) as the person decides to go to another school at the last minute. Then, I am gonna browse through the www.roommateservice.com or something similar.

I plan on waiting until about June 15th before I start looking, that way I'm pretty sure me or my potential roomie won't get pulled off any waitlists. I'll then try and get a place starting July 15th, so I'll live there a month b$ schools starts. That being said, I have no idea who my pot roommie will be.
