Hello.

I posted the same thread on the pre-dental forum, but I wanted hear what dental students think of the school as well.

Touro is a pretty new school that, I think, has potential to produce well-rounded dentists.

I am curious to know about the prospects of its long-term reputation as a dental school.

Do you think I'd have easier/ harder time finding a job or residency against other more known dental school graduates?

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on getting into dental school! But it really doesn't matter where you go anymore. You will have options no matter what. Just get your DDS/DMD

It DOES matter where you go to school from COST perspective.

That should be the first and biggest factor in choosing a school these days. Or you will regret it.

The school you go to will not matter aside from debt load incurred.
Try to keep it under 350K if you care about your lifestyle.
You will repay for a long time at this level, but (probably) not live below the means of your BA/BS toting peers.

Saturation is real, insurance squeeze is real, and take home pay is falling in real terms.

I'm a general dentist, not specialist. Don't know what your plans are.

Although Touro took some well seasoned administration from other schools to open up, it will remain to be seen how the clinical education fairs, as there is always a shortage of good dental faculty. NBDE passage rate and licensure board passage rate in the future will be a good indicator of success.
