Sorry I just think it's a fun topic. Besides music, also post YouTube videos that motivate you or just are fun to watch during a study break 🙂

My jam: Daft Punk- "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger"

The Killers, Foster the people, and the Rolling Stones, also alternative or classic alternative are my study jams. Nothing too hard, so not gym music i.e. punk rock/ rap/metal.

I'm more of a classical guy.... I love listening to Classical/Romantic music.
Tannhäuser Overture by Wagner is one of my favorites.

Misleading title! Do you want study music or motivational music?

TOTAL SILENCE!!

Never could do it with music! Did you guys always play music while you study, or just tried it one day and liked it? I get too distracted with playlists, listening to the lyrics, skipping around on songs....

I totally agree!!! I can never study with music

I made a study playlist with only rain sounds and crashing waves on the beach.

Ahhhhh.

I would almost think that's too relaxing! I wouldn't want to fall asleep on my studies! But I bet that works wonders when you get stressed.

White noise, man. It's the best for concentration or meditation or sleeping or just about anything besides Frky's favorite past-time. (How hard is it to do homework with one hand?)

Some days I can do it and some days I can't. Never could with MCAT. But like in undergrad right after an exam studying for that class when there's no pressure 🙂 I guess that disappears in med school... FML

I like anything Bach and LOVE Claude Bolling... The cello suite album is awesome

Epic vocal music like this

and ATB, sander van doorn etc

I don't mind background noise while I study. When I was younger it would annoy me and distract me. Now, no bother.

Although, Starbucks has been playing this god awful broadway collection the past few weeks that drives me nuts! If I have to hear music from Rent one more time....😡

"525,600 minutes..."

Music with vocals distracts me when I'm studying, so if I choose to listen to something during my learning, it's usually post-rock, like this:

Usually all of Bon Ivers songs.

Sometimes insane trance music.
Same for me with both. Bon Iver is super calming. Trance just gets me zoned in. Must have to do with those repetitive beats. Arty and Above & Beyond are my favorite

Anybody listen to any dubstep while they study lol? My brain couldn't do it...

Regardless it gives me the opportunity to post this pretty sweet video.

yes, I do.

Not even joking. I have a skrillex, sex ray vision, and avicii playlist just for studying when I need to really burn thorugh a few hours straight. It numbs my brain to the passage of time.

Years later when you're an attending and the oldies station where you work starts playing skrillex, your brain will pull a pavlov and remember some obscure low-yield fact out of nowhere, by pure association.

To this day avicii levels makes me automatically rattle off the brachial plexus.

Brilliant

Firstly. I go to this website

After perusing that for a solid 10 minutes. I start off with a little sufjan, bon iver, s. carey, Jose Gonzalez, then move on to a little edgier stuff, black keys, phoenix, interpol, kanye, tyler the creator, kid cudi, and culminate with Brand New (The Devil and God), Mt. Eden, Skrillex, till I have a seizure.

Listening to Kill Everbody - Skrillex would be ironic wouldn't it? 😛

My list includes Marc Broussard, Mat Kearney, Parachute, and OneRepublic. However, I do tend to listen to Eric Johnson or other few guitarists every now and then.

One day I'll show up to the pre-clinical years and just yell "I AM DocE!". See if I cant get at least 4 beers. Maybe one wont be poisoned.

Interesting, says more than you realize.....

Nah. My identity is touro's worst kept secret. Everyone knows, and no one has given me crap about it yet. Generally I get positive responses. But I like to make believe I'm fooling the 10 or so people who still don't know who I am. As long as the admin (and any future residency directors) cant figure out who I am, Im okay with it.

haha and don't read into the poisoned beer stuff. I just like to self-deprecate

Dr. Lenihan sure knows. maybe. mentioned something about an infamous sdn poster back at a touro-ny interview.

I prefer the sweet sound of silence when studying. It opens up my understanding and neural pathways. 🙂

Bear McCreary is the shiznit. The Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack can motivate you through any boredom biochem and pharm can throw at you...

Film scores and video game scores. Nothing like a little Halo and Star Wars music while throwing down some biochem!

Heck yaaaa. When it comes to pure talent and music, I think film and video game soundtracks are where it's at.

I cannot get behind dubstep. Maybe I don't understand the music....at all
