What being a COMPETITIVE dental school means

When I hear "X Dental School is competitive," my first thought is:

  • Competitive as in harder to get into when applying

    Votes: 32 68.1%
  • Competitive as in more cut-throat once you are in the class

    Votes: 12 25.5%
  • Competitive in another sense of the word

    Votes: 3 6.4%

When you hear someone say "X Dental School is competitive," without any other context, which meaning of the word first occurs to you?

This was always my understanding:
Competitive refers to how much the students compete for the top grades.
Selective refers to how hard it is to get into the school
