Classes have started/are starting and I'm curious to see what classes people are taking. This is my last semester of college so it's a bittersweet thread for me! I'm a senior biochemistry major for reference.

I'm taking:
Biochem Senior Writing Seminar (My last major requirement)
Honors Thesis Part II
The Science of Health Inequalities: the Politics of Policy Intervention (This honors class just opened up today a half a week before classes start and I switched out of a sociology class for it. I'm so excited for it.)
Intermediate German II
Women's Choir

It's a total of 12 credits which is the lowest I've ever taken. I could have graduated early but decided to stay for my thesis and so I could split up my final major requirements.

I might also be taking a 1 credit German STEM seminar but they haven't scheduled a time so we'll have to see if it works with my schedule.

What are you guys taking this semester?

Organic Chemistry II - yay
Physics II - I actually registered for the class the night before it started. I was worried about the courseload of taking almost exclusively STEM classes, but I loooved Physics I and my nerdiness got the best of me
Calculus III - boo. Hopefully last math class I will ever have to take
Violin lessons - I'm a complete beginner
Independent Chemistry Research - continuing working on an organic chem project I started last semester.

I'm a sophomore, and my hope in taking a heavier STEM courseload now will free me up in my junior year to study for the MCAT.

Organic Chemistry II
Physics II
Molecular Biology
Cognitive Psychology
Writing across the Curriculum

(It's a very non pre-med looking semester for me. I'm a junior physics major just about wrapping up with major requirements + taking some other classes for fun.)

Quantum Mechanics II
A physics-major-specific lab class that's required for the major
Particle Physics
Oceans & Atmospheres

This is the least amount of credits I've taken and I'm hoping to do more research with this time. I also now have enough gaps in my schedule to do shadowing.

Physiology
Family dynamics
Research methods
Psychology of aging
Neurobiology

Looking at your schedules, I'm so glad physics and calculus are past me :hungover:

Genetics
Physiology
Organic II
Easy gen-ed

Only 2 more classes :)

Orgo 2
Bio
psych class
orgo study research project
stats lab
easy gen ed

Physics II + Lab
Organic Chem I + Lab
Bio II + Lab
Anatomy & Physiology I + Lab

This is making me feel like a slacker, but I guess that's the joy of final semesters! :angelic:

Virology
Medical micro lab
Flower arranging :p
Plus a few research credits to stay a full-time student...

Super senior year!!
  1. General Genetics
  2. Microbial Genetics
  3. Microbial Genomics and Bioinformatics
  4. Philosophy of Art and Aesthetics
  5. Confronting Pseudoscience (required honors seminar)
  6. OCHEM Lab (my university separates the lab from the courses)
As you can tell, I've put off some my genetics classes...

Endocrinology
Healthcare Writing
North European History to 1066 (because Vikings are cool )

10 credits. Now that I’ve been accepted, I get to relax a little bit in my last semester.

Why so many though? Don't you just need one genetics class?

You're correct! However, I need two other upper division micro courses to complete that degree (I finished my sociology one with one summer class [sociology of aging—great class]) and the one philosophy courses rounds out my phil degree.

The only courses that happened to fit my schedule (which was greatly contracted due to ochem lab—1:30-4:20, MW) were these genetics/genomics courses. The microbial genetics class is more so a "eukaryotic" genetics class housed within the micro department, and the genomics one is very interesting so far (with a course deliverable being potential publication in a respectable micro journal, no less!).

Longwinded way of saying: they were the only ones that fit my schedule. Though I like when my classes meld together and build on each other like that conceptually. Makes for an interesting semester.
