So this is officially my first post on SDN. I graduated this last may with a 3.51 gpa. Took MCAT last year with a weak 22Q and retook August 6 with score release next Tuesday Sept 8.

First time applicant so AMCAs is daunting. Dont know what schools I should be looking at because of weak score. Also interested in DO. Should I wait a year and if so what should I do during then?

May be getting a job as a retail manager which I know is not health related but I plan on continuing my volunteer work. Already have clinical experience, shadowing, lots of volunteer work, one year research in a genetics lab. Do I need to do more and if so what?

So confused! Please help!

You won't get into a US allo school with an MCAT of 22. There might be small chance of a DO school considering you. There's not much point in worrying about it until you get the new score back next week.

If the second score is also low, take a formal classroom prep course before retaking. Yeah, I know it's expensive. If you have a year to wait, any job is fine, as long as you continue your clinical volunteerism and some other community service for four or so hours a week. If you don't have something for leadership, work on that. And shadowing a primary care doctor would be nice considering your others are specialists.
