Hello,

It is Saturday night and I am supposed to be leaving for an interview in Philadelphia on Sunday morning as my interview is first thing in the morning on Monday. Philadelphia is under 'severe weather alert' as there is supposed to a snowstorm (10-12 inches of snow).

What should I do in this situation? If I need to cancel the interview appt, who would I contact over the weekend?

Thanks.

try to make it first. if the airline will fly there should be no problem

if all else fails and you can't go simply call them monday morning and tell them your situation. you can also try to leave a message.

Whoa man that must really suck. Good luck getting a flight.

Go hang out in the airport and do your best to get there, usually at some point there will some flight that will take you where you want, or close enough that you can somehow make it. If you know you're not gonna make it in time, start calling the office and see if you get a machine, if so, leave a message saying what's up. Also, call first thing Monday morning again and, if you're seriously interested in the school, be VERY sure to tell them that you really really want to reschedule a.s.a.p. and your absence is 100% due to the absolute inability to travel. They'll understand that I'm sure.

I live in the Northeast and am in a similar situation -- except that I'm trying to get out tomorrow. The snow is not supposed to start until the afternoon. Check the hour by hour forecast on weather.com

I also called the airline that I was flying and was able to change my flight for free to the first flight in the morning. That way, I should miss the snowstorm (Getting back or in your case getting out on Monday night is probably going to be impossible). I would call the airline, and they should be willing to change your flight to an earlier one for free.

Good luck.

I am in Philly, and a week ago on a Friday when we had about 6 inches of snow, Penn closed the entire university. Although he didn't have classes, any applicants (which was most of them) who were there got interviewed just like a normal day.
If you cancel, I am sure they will understand, but it is up to you what you want to do. And if your flight is early on Sunday you will be in town before the snow starts. Good luck!
