What do I need to get into pharmacy school?

What most people think they need to be accepted to pharmacy school:

High GPA
High PCAT
Extracurriculars
Work experience
Leadership
Research
Volunteer experience
Know why you want to do pharmacy
Have stellar letters of recommendations
Get a bachelor's degree in science
Have no criminal record
Have all prerequisites done far ahead of time


What you really need to be accepted to pharmacy school:

Qualify for $200k+ in student loans

Sad, but true in regards to the market today.

Heed this man's advice and go to Dentistry or PA school (or read his sig for more options outside of the medical field).

200K+ in student loan is just ridiculous. I graduated in 1999 with $32K student loan (2 yrs pre-pharm + 4 yrs pharmD.) I know a student who is taking a gap year to work as a tech so he can apply to pharmacy school next year (4yrs BS+1 yr gap.) Bad planning and the job market is not looking so good when he gets out.
