Hi, I joined a lab (non-pay) after I graduated. I told the PI I wanted to help out with research and learn.

She has me helping out with research procedure and I am actually doing things (not just doing housekeeping duties). Also, eventually I will start working on my own projects.

I don't know what my title is, like what do I put on a resume?

Am I a research volunteer?

I don't think I'm a research assistant because we already have one.

Just wondering if there was a title for people like me.

Volunteer.

Boom.

You can call yourself a Research Volunteer, but if you want to spice it up and make it sound better you can call yourself a Research Student or a Research Assistant.

Just wanted to ask but is volunteering at a research lab something that residencies look at or is it only publications/presentations they are looking for.
