Just like the title says, what grade do you consider to be unacceptable (exams/class).

Exam <80 is unacceptable to me
and
Class 3.5>

Let's be honest. We all want to stay above a certain threshold and get upset when we fall below it... so let it all out! 😀

I'm sure anything less than an A- gives bannie tremors and nightsweats.

I've always felt that this is ingrained at an early age by your parents. For me a B was acceptable all the way until high school (because that's what my parents wanted). In college I finally got the drive to get A's, but even then I floundered from time to time.

lolz. are u trying to make sdn hate me for that remark😛

prior to senior year. it was anything below 95 (tests or exams) and i might kill someone. 😴

final grade would be A (minimum), or i will kill someone too.

but then i suffer from incurable neurodegenerative disease - senioritis. only curable by change of location. then we will get back to business.

🙂

95- bannie standardized first fail
90- " " double fail
85- " " triple fail or commonly known as asian fail
80- kill someone

most of the time i kill someone. 😀

pls dont give me the get a life talk.
life and grades are not mutually exclusive.

thank you. :luck::xf:😍:laugh:

if you cant already tell who someone is. its me.

PreMed

Freshman - B is unacceptable
Soph - C is unacceptable (oh God, I got a C!!)
Junior - C is unacceptable
Senior - ****, I dunno if I can get into med school with these grades...B is unacceptable again.

Grad school
year 1 - B is unacceptable, gotta get all As
OUTCOME: 2 Bs

year 2 (preacceptance) - B is unacceptable, gotta get all As
OUTCOME: 2 Bs

ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

year 2 (post acceptance) - Told myself it's unacceptable to get a C.... Once exam time hit, I didn't care about Cs (just wanted to freakin pass all classes)

OUTCOME: no Cs, passed all classes [sometimes, the lack of stress can be a good thing 😉]

Moral of the story: Grade markers can either be a source of motivation or stress. If they are a source of the latter, abandon ship immediately.

I go into every class knowing that I can earn an A.

If I put my full (or almost full) effort into the class and get a B, then it wasn't meant to be.

Cs are unacceptable - too bad I got one. But it won't happen again. :xf:

you got a C??????? 😱😱😱😱😱😱

Yeah, in organic lab. It was a learning experience and the teacher was one of those bitter bitches that tried to fail everyone. Didn't hurt my GPA too much.

It just really really bugs me when I look at my transcript.

If you've never gotten a C, you've never taken enough classes ; )

Before 9th grade, because I knew grades (and GPA) didn't matter until high school: 61%. (I refused to do busy work; I still do. I do exactly what I need to master the material and that rarely includes even the smallest majority of the extraneous problem sets, exercises, homework, and in-class activities ad nauseam so many instructors infatuate themselves with.)
Once GPA started mattering: 100% goal w/ 95% being the lower limit of "acceptable" for a class (until the final, at which point my goal becomes to get higher than whatever the line is for an A). At any point in the semester, my lowest "acceptable" grade is that grade which will keep the 95%. This, of course, means trying hard until the final and then coasting b/c all I need is a 0-60% for my A. Not going to lie, I did it for the A. lol. The trick is learning the stuff anyway and engaging in your learning so profs feel like their subject is the most important and interesting subject to you....

anything below a 90 is not good.. so pretty below an A- is not acceptable..

ughh at the 2 B's ive gotten already!!

Well, obviously we all want to get as many A's as possible. I consider C or below unacceptable.

I once got a C in a 0.5 unit indoor soccer class, most unacceptable. I guess i just REALLY hated indoor soccer and learned to never do anything just because other people wants you to.

While I certainly prefer all A's like everyone on here but I would have to say a C would completely devastate me. Even B's are less acceptable now because I'm beginning to realize just how competitive this process is. Recently I got an 84 (B+) on a chemistry exam (avg. was 67) and I was incredibly disappointed even though I know I did everything I could to earn that B+.

For me anything below a 94...since my school has the +/- system and anything below a 94 is an A- and not a 4.0.

Especially since my calc teacher refused to give me an A when my average was a 93 >:l

And yea I have a B and a B+ on my transcript already...smh..

My uni had +/- grades, and I'd say from my experience, down to a B I could still have come out of that class saying I got pretty much everything I could from it and understood the material well. In those cases where I felt I'd 'gotten it' but didn't get my A, I'd just screwed up a couple of times, was a late bloomer when it came to wrapping my head around a concept or getting my studying act together. Or because the teacher was a loon, that also occurs. Anyway.

My C+ class on the other hand - I really did not get what the unifying theme of the class was, it was fractured, I didn't get the exams, I didn't leave with useful concepts or understanding of how to solve problems. So I place my cutoff there. Leaving a class not having learned is unacceptable, and that grade reflected what I got outta that class.

I think that B- and below is bad.. Nothing is "unacceptable".
I know I'm still killing myself over the B (88%) in chem 1 i got w/ no curve.

For me, it really depends on the class. If it was a class that I am taking just to fulfill a graduation requirement or boring (et. P-Chem, Art History, Theology..), then anything below a B is unacceptable. I spend time used to study for these classes on going out and having a good time with friends.

But if it was a class I really enjoyed and was really excited to take (biochem, immunology), then anything less than an A- is unacceptable and thats even pushing it. In those classes I expect to go into beast ("gunner") mode and dominate the class.

We all know we've been in gunner mode at one point in our undergrad career right guys.

on a test...depends on the class, but <75 is BAD. in a class...well i've never made a C so i'll say less than a B is bad. but all A's is preferred haha

Anything less than 85!!! I aim for a 100 every time 🙂

Pfft, anything lower than 100%. Duh.

High school = B (because anything lower was parental trouble)

Early college = anything that was an A

Fulfilling ending pre-recs = I get mad when I get below 100 (or when I score over 100 and someone still beats me. i.e. curved bio exam to a 75 avg. I scored a 101, but some ass-hole scored a 103! 😡)

An A- is unacceptable. (final course grade)

An exam score less than 85% is unacceptable.

High school: anything higher than a C is unacceptable.

For me, it depends on the class (BCPM or AO?) and how good/engaged I am with the material.

For this semester:
Analytical Chem- BCPM class so it counts toward my BCPM GPA and my overall GPA. I feel very comfortable with the material. Took a dry run on one of my prof's practice exams and scored in the A- range...so I'll just need a bit of review this weekend. Anything less than an A on the exam I have next week will be unacceptable.
Orgo II- BCPM class so it counts toward my BCPM GPA and my overall GPA. Feeling less comfortable than I did with Orgo I, but I'm not terrible at it at this point. I honestly have no idea what's coming on my prof's exam, but we get to drop an exam grade...so I'll be happy if I make an A, but I'm not going to cry if I make a B.
Genetics and Molecular Bio- BCPM class so it counts toward my BCPM GPA and my overall GPA. I feel very comfortable with the material (just need to brush up on a few things) and anything less than an A on the exam I have next week will be unacceptable.
Social Psych- Anything less than an A in this class is unacceptable.
Trombone Lessons and Band- If I don't make an A in these classes, I should be kicked out of school.😱

In high school, anything less than an A was unacceptable to my parents, resulting in a lot of unneeded stress. They mellowed out around my junior year, and I started motivating myself to do better around then.

High school:
95%+. Then in my 2nd sem of senior yr, I had major senioritis which resulted in a freakin 89% in high school in one class. I almost choked.

College:
Seniorities rode through freshmen/soph yr...Failed my first test ever. Almost pooped my pants.

Right now, A- is pretty much unacceptable. If I make a grade lower, Idk what i'd do.

Depends on the class... In my biochem ii class I'll be ecstatic to make a solid B on the first test, and I've come moderately close to straight A+'ing classes the past year and a half. As far as final grades... I guess I'd be alright with a B in this Biochem II class, but A's or higher in everything else.

I swear I'm not incredibly anal. Just need to keep that upward trend, comprende dawgs?
