I just got an email from a program that I interviewed at requesting that I not only allow but actually pay for them to run a criminal background check on me. If I rank the program and match then I don't mind them checking my background before I sign a contract, but I am ticked that they want to get $$$$ for this now. If they are that worried about it they shouldn't have interviewed me. I have not recieved any similar request from any other program that I have interviewed at.
Any thoughts?

That's weird! Never heard of such a thing. I'd talk to my school and see what they think . BTW, what's the program?
