Bump is if you want a particular thread to get "bumped" to the top of the first page. Things tend to get pushed down the list very quickly--bump keeps your thread/a thread you are interested fresh. So, bump away!

what came first the word or the Acronym for the word?

i think it was the acronym, cuz there are better ways to say "i'm just posting to bring this to the top."

so someone noticed that bring up my post is BUMP and there it went. or would that still mean BUMP came first and then the guy said "oh that's like bring up my post. cool, i'll use that" so tough to know...maybe we'll never have an answer. but we do know why the post crossed the road right?

Great throwback song and a total misquote of it...It's the rapper Bun B spelling his name out; however, I do wish that "bump" was related to "Bun B" -- that would be epic.
