What drove you to Oral Surgery? Why OMFS?

Pre-dent here. I'm beginning my shadowing of the different specialties. Currently watching Endodontists; Looking for an OS to shadow next.

I'm curious to hear from current and prospective OMFS program residents/grads about what (besides money) drove them to select Oral Surgery over the other specialties and general dentistry?

Lol. I took some final impressions yesterday that "needed" to be border molded with compound.....wanted to blow my brains out. There is nothing fun in that incisor. It's not the only reason, because the commitment to OMFS is huge. However, stuff like denture impressions and all gold crown preps on Max 2nd molars does make surgery shine alittle brighter.
