Just curious, within your 4 years of undergrad, what extracirricular activities have you done, are currently doing, or plan on doing?

Whatever's fun and engaging enough to make me want to keep doing it. You can look at my mdapps if you want.

You can find the various premed activities on a site like mdapplicants.com but remember it's important to do activities that you are passionate about rather than imitating others. For example, I like sports so I try to raise donations of sports cards to send to various hospitals, childrens groups, etc. since they often brighten up the day of a sick child. Baseball cards might not be the most impressive thing to an adcom but, at the end of the day, it's been one of my most enjoyable experiences. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see a group of NYU med students do the same thing:

My MDApps is in my signiture - it lists everything I am doing or have done. I will also be shadowing a private practice oncologist, the head of rad onc at my university hospital and various ER shadowing this summer. I am currently applying to be the volunteer director for an organization called the 10,000 hours show at my school, so maybe that too. Other than that, I will be continuing my activities from this year next year.

I feel the need to ask, would it be worth it to include as an EC the fact that I'm restoring my beat up 72 land cruiser? I spend a lot of time on it, but I'm not exactly doing a complete frame off restoration. And it's not like I'm helping anyone else out by doing this. But I feel that it is a big accomplishment for me, as I have never ever worked on cars before aside from changing a tire once.

I've volunteered at a VA hospital, tutored little kids... it's been fun. My MDApps has more.

    emergency research program (in process)
    volunteering with/for homeless/aids victims
red cross (hopefully very soon, upon my return from Hawaii)
local mountain climbing unit (will hopefully volunteer for stuff with that too)
various college organizations (premed society, news paper etc)

Anything else I can get my hands on in the next 2-3 years, mostly shadowing/research/clinical stuff. Those are the things I enjoy :)
