On the MCAT, a 27 is the bare minimum to get considered (barring special cases). 30 is the avg accepted applicant's score. A 33 is very good. A 36 is great. And a 39+ is stellar.

What is the grading scale for the usmles, and what is a good score? Perhaps broken down as "MCAT equivalents?" (eg, USMLE of 200 ~ 30 on MCAT)

On the USMLE the passing score is about 180, the avg is usually around 210-215 and the SD hovers around 15-20. You can do the rest. 230 is considered the "magic #," or goal for a lot of people going into competitive specialties, although many people go even higher than this.

Step 2 #s are a little higher.
