What is meant by "medial nuclei"?

Hey y'all,

FA says that 4 CN nuclei are medial (3, 4, 6 and 12). I don't get it; what is medial referring to?

Can't believe I did not read "nuclei" there. Makes more sense now, assuming they mean the actual nuclei (and not the nerve pathways) are in the medial aspect of the brain.
