On a bunch of different threads I have heard y'all talking about the AOA. I am just curious...can anyone tell me? I know the basic acronyms for other AOA's....American Osteopathic, Optometric, and all that jazz. I am just curious what this one is all relates to med students who aren't DO. Thanks! :)

Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. It's a national honor society for medical students that get elected (based on grades, clinical rotations, blah blah blah) at their individual medical schools.

Thanks so much! That clears a lot up for me. Do you know how many students per class at a school are elected? I am assuming it is super competitive, but looks good for residency applications and stuff. Is it only the gunners who get this award?
