Other What is the right time to start thinking about Fellowship Programs? [Sports Medicine hopefully in NY or MA]

Let me preface by saying this: I am an intern currently four months into a FM residency program in Ny. I am also a DO and love sports medicine. What would be the right time to think about getting my residency on a track [take more electives, go to research meetings or meet residency directors] where I get more clinical experiences that fit this career goal?
